Regional Director Message

 
  •        On the occasion of the XI Regional Convention of Africa North-West Region, we express our profound gratitude for the hospitality accorded us by the Minia Club (Y’s Men’s Club of Minia), the Regional Convention Committee (RCC) chaired by PAP Oyin Adedeji and Co-Chaired by ASD, YIA Tunji Makinde; the Host Convention Committee (HCC) led by RDE Sherif Awad; AP Hiasinti Kilasara; APE Femi Oduntan; RD Clara Adetuyi; RDE; Minia Y.M.C.A President – Adel Ramzy; Guest Speaker Medhat Maurice; Horus Hotel Resort Management; Fellow Y’s Men and all the Convention Attendees.

  •       We are most delighted to say that Egypt District performed creditably towards a successful XI Regional Convention.

  •      We appreciate the Egypt Club on their pledge of revitalizing other dormant clubs in the District. The theme of the convention: “Make a difference and be the light of hope” remain a pivot in all our activities at our various clubs towards ensuring that our movement creates an impact in our various communities and the world at large. The Association actualizes a beacon of hope to mankind.

  •        On the way forward, hosting of the Regional Convention annually is hereby applauded and awareness for greater participation in future conventions should be enhanced by creating more awareness by the Regional Committee and the would-be Host Committee. At this juncture, a bid for the next regional convention is hereby thrown open.

RESOLUTION REACHED FROM THE GROUPS FOR A BETTER Y’S DOM.

 
      Towards fostering an up-mobile movement and acknowledging the duty that accompanies every right, the Convention approved the following resolutions on:  
       
       
     

A.      IMPEDIMENTS TO SUSTENABLE GROWTH OF Y’S MEN’S CLUB & YOUTHS AS IT AFFECTS OUR MEMBERSHIP.

   
       
       
Ø      Lack of interesting programmes.
Ø      Inadequate idea/vision of the movement.
Ø      Lack of training and re-training.
Ø      Our youths are too busy and after school they fizzle out.
Ø      Lack of finance and creation of awareness on club’s activities.
SOLUTIONS TO THE ABOVE POINTS.
Ø      Periodic fund raising programmes.
Ø      Quality membership and programmes.
Ø      Visitation of members from time to time.
Ø      Training and retraining of officers and members of the movement.

 B.  HOW DO WE ACHIEVE EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION IN  OUR  MOVEMENT?

   
             
       
Ø      Through youth and adult exchange programmes.
Ø      Improvement on our level of Information Technology (IT). This could be actualized via exchange of internet messages/e-mails between clubs and members.
Ø      Brief and concise information between members.
Ø      Enhancement of brother-clubbing relationship.
Ø      Website creation by clubs/districts and regions/areas.
Ø      Production of newsletters and bulletins for sharing of information and ideas.
Ø      Exchange of personal contacts amongst members at programmes/conferences/conventions.
 
   
           
           
           
           
           
           
           
                 C.  INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMMES: PARTICIPATION & BENEFITS    
       

On International Programmes participation and benefits, the groups agreed on the following:

   
       
Ø      Participation could be enhanced through payment of dues, contribution to BF, TOF etc.
Ø      Quality membership aids participation.
Ø      Increase on philatelic activities (collection and sales of stamps).
Ø      Periodic fund raising programmes.
   
           
           
           
           
           
       

                BENEFITS

   
       
Ø      Breaking of language barriers.
Ø      Sharing of ideas and widening of club horizon.
Ø      Educational increase and exposure on Y’s dom.
Ø      Cultural exposure, awareness and brotherhood.
Ø      Human capacity development.
   
           
           
           
           
           
       

          D.  PROMOTING THE “Y” & Y’S RELATIONSHIP:

   
       
Ø      Training and retraining of club officers and members as the case may be.
Ø      Promoting proper understanding of the mission / goal of the Y.M.C.A and the Y’s Men.
Ø      Regular / Joint programming creates better awareness.
Ø      Frequent communication between the movement and tolerance.
   
           
           
           
           
           
       

In conclusion, it was agreed that these resolution should not be rhetoric but should be put into action towards making a difference in our different clubs and thus being a light of hope.
